Markdown Peek is free, and it rolls out to managed Macs the standard Apple way. No special build, no license keys, no per-user setup.
Because Markdown Peek ships through the Mac App Store, you deploy it with Apple Business Manager (now called Apple Business) and your MDM, the same path you already use for managed apps. It is free, so the licenses cost nothing, and there is nothing to configure on the app's side.

Get the licenses in Apple Business Manager
Sign in to Apple Business Manager at business.apple.com, open Apps and Books, search for Markdown Peek, and get the number of licenses you need. Markdown Peek is free, so this costs nothing, and orders up to 5,000 seats are ready right away.
Connect Apps and Books to your MDM
Download the content token from Apps and Books (some MDM consoles call it a location or VPP token) and upload it to your MDM. It works with Jamf, Kandji, Mosyle, Microsoft Intune, or any MDM that supports Apps and Books. Your licenses then sync automatically, and Markdown Peek appears ready to deploy.
Assign it to your Macs
Scope Markdown Peek to a device group with device-based assignment, which ties each license to a Mac by serial number, with no end-user Apple Account required. Choose a required install to push it automatically, or offer it in your self-service portal.
It installs silently
On managed Macs the app installs over the MDM channel with no App Store sign-in and no prompt, even where the App Store is turned off by policy, and updates arrive the same way. The licenses stay yours to reassign or reclaim as people and devices change.
That is the whole rollout: get it once in Apps and Books, sync to your MDM, scope to a device group, done. There are no accounts, servers, or license keys to maintain on the app's side.
Why IT approves it
Markdown Peek is an easy yes for a security review, and most of what matters is enforced by Apple and verifiable on the App Store listing.
- Distributed through the Mac App Store, where App Review, code signing, and notarization are handled by Apple and verifiable on the public listing.
- Runs in Apple's App Sandbox, which is mandatory for every Mac App Store app. It can only reach the files your team opens.
- No accounts, no telemetry, and no analytics SDKs. The App Store privacy label shows Data Not Collected, which your team can confirm on the listing. The only optional network use is loading images from the web, off by default and lockable fleet-wide with the BlockRemoteImages MDM key.
- Device-based assignment installs silently with no end-user Apple Account, and works even on Macs where the App Store is disabled by policy.
- Your organization owns the licenses and can reassign or reclaim them through MDM. There is nothing to configure on the app's side.
- Runs on macOS 15.5 or later, with no runtime or dependencies to install.
